ABOUT

About

Foundation Hand & Physical Therapy provides one-on-one therapy sessions. Patients stay with the same therapist throughout their treatment, and our therapists regularly communicate and consult with physicians about treatment plans.

Some of the conditions that we treat include strains and sprains, fractures, joint replacement, pediatric conditions, sports injuries, work-related injuries, and chronic pain. We also have two full-time certified hand therapists on staff. These are therapists who have received extra training and education in conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. In addition, we offer dry needling, vestibular therapy and Graston technique.

Appointments are scheduled promptly and walk-ins are accepted. We accept most insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, Humana Military, commercial, auto and worker’s compensation. Our friendly office staff will work directly with the patient’s insurance company and clearly explain insurance benefits and payment options.

We are conveniently located near the Eastern Bypass, just off Lancaster Road, behind Ollie’s Bargain Hunt and Coopers Restaurant. We are open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on weekends by appointment. Please contact us today at 859-625-5986 or info@foundationhandandpt.com.

Hello,

Meet the Cummings family.

Foundation Hand & Physical Therapy was established in 2015 by Brad and Tonya Cummings, whose mission was to provide high-quality, patient-centered physical therapy in an environment where everyone feels welcome and supported. This privately owned clinic in Richmond, KY, offers outpatient physical and occupational therapy for a variety of orthopedic injuries and conditions, especially those affecting the upper extremities.

“Lots of clinics say they are patient-centered, but we wanted to create a place where those words mean something, where therapists really listen to their patients and build treatment plans that match their goals and lifestyle,” said Tonya Littlefield Cummings, who serves as the clinic’s practice administrator. “Being heard and feeling valued and respected is important for everyone, but it is especially important for people who have been injured or are dealing with chronic pain. Many patients say they feel like part of our family, and that is just what they become -- part of the Foundation family.”

This focus on developing relationships adds a level of trust and security that translates into quality patient care, and it has earned Foundation a reputation for being among the best in the area. In just four years, Foundation has grown from one physical therapist in a small store-front clinic to employing eight physical and occupational therapists, who treat their patients in a newly remodeled 4,000-square-foot facility near the campus of Eastern Kentucky University.

“Just like our name implies, we focus on foundational therapy concepts and solid strategies that have demonstrated success,” Brad Cummings, PT, CHT, explained. “Manual techniques and exercised-based therapy are a large part of most of our treatment plans, but we also employ newer approaches to supplement and customize. Our number one goal is to get patients better, and we have a variety of techniques in our toolbox to reach that outcome.”
